Marlene Davidson

Board President

I have served on the Atikokan Hospital Board for eleven years. I served in the positions of Director, Board Chair and Chair of Governance Committee. I also represented the Hospital on the Board Chair Committee for the Regional Hospital.

I have served on the AFHT Board for ten years and as chair for the last six years. I also served on AFTHO ‘s Board Chair Leadership Committee , where I represented and reported to the Chairs of the Northwest AFHTO Boards.

In the Community and Province, I have served on many boards and committees.

  • Library: local, regional, Provincial. Forty + years, most as the chair at the local level.
  • Atikokan Children’s Entertainment Series: Chair and Programmer (twenty years).
  • Municipal Council: Three terms where I sat on many Council committees.
  • Ladies and Children’s Golf Chair: Fifteen years.
  • Chartered the Regional Women in Mining Association.
  • Kiwanis Club: Grand Master of the Christmas Parade

I am a retired teacher having taught every level from JK- Grade 10 and Primary Education at Lakehead University. I retired after thirty-five years but went back when needed. I have a BA., B of ED and Primary Specialist.

I also owned and operated “The Paddlers’ Rest” B&B for ten years. I am currently President of the Atikokan Metis Council and sit on the Consultation Team for the Region 1 Treaty 3. I was awarded “The Influential Woman of the Year” award in 2019 by Northern Ontario Business. I love to read, garden, golf and in the past, ski. I spent many winter holidays with my family on ski holidays in the mountains. Travel is my passion!!!
