FAMILY PRESERVATION

Preservation Services

Preservation Services are a set of intensive supports and interventions designed to help families maintain safe and stable environments for children while preventing the need for out-of-home placements (such as foster care). These services aim to strengthen family functioning and improve child well-being. Here are some key components of these services:

    1. Assessment and Support: Evaluation of the family’s situation, identify challenges, and provide tailored support to address issues like substance abuse, mental health concerns, or domestic violence that may threaten the child’s safety.
    2. Family Counseling: This includes therapy sessions aimed at improving family relationships, communication, and conflict resolution skills, helping families work through issues collaboratively.
    3. Parent Education Programs: These programs teach parents essential skills, such as effective parenting techniques, child development knowledge, and crisis management, to promote a stable and nurturing home environment.
    4. Resource Connection: Preservation services often help families access community resources, such as housing assistance, financial support, and health care, to alleviate external pressures that can jeopardize child well-being.
    5. In-Home Services: In-home support services may include assistance from social workers or case managers who work with families directly in their homes, providing guidance and resources in real-time.
    6. Safety Planning: If there are immediate safety concerns, these services can help develop safety plans to protect children while keeping families intact and working towards resolution.
    7. Community Engagement: Engaging local organizations can strengthen the family support system and provide additional resources for families in need.

By focusing on prevention and early intervention, Preservation Services work to address the root causes of family issues, ensuring that children can remain safely in their homes and families can thrive.
